Work that takes years

Some things do not fit into an essay. These are the long threads — retreats, books, surveys and archives — that the shorter writing comes out of.

  • Dali Infusion

A week-long retreat in Dali, Yunnan, combining mind-body practice, traditional tea culture, Bai minority heritage and sacred mountain time — designed as an inward journey in a place where ancient and contemporary life still overlap.

Daily Tai Chi, Qigong and meditation sessions guided by local teachers in the mountain setting of Cangshan.

Traditional tea ceremonies, calligraphy and direct encounters with Bai culture and restored courtyard architecture.

A separate, experience-focused site: the retreat is distinct from the expeditions and study journeys, but it grows out of the same fieldwork in Yunnan.
